Craftsman homes and historic backyards
Pasadena is famous for its Craftsman bungalows, and neighborhoods like Bungalow Heaven and Madison Heights are full of homes that are around a century old. Their wide porches and deep lots are made for gatherings, but they often come with narrow driveways, a detached garage at the back and big trees spreading over the patio.
Choose a flat spot of about 12 × 8 ft per station with plenty of clearance above it, away from low branches, eaves and wooden pergolas, since the grill and the fire tricks need headroom. That area already includes the seating on three sides of the grill. A driveway or a paved area near the garage often works best, with a walkway left around it for guests and the team. If the only way to the backyard is a narrow side path, tell us so we can plan the carry-in.
