Villages, HOAs and compact backyards
Irvine is organized into villages, from established neighborhoods like Woodbridge, Northwood, University Park and Turtle Rock to newer ones such as Portola Springs, Orchard Hills, Cypress Village and the Great Park Neighborhoods. Almost all of them have a homeowners association, and many newer homes have compact backyards.
A compact yard still works. Each station needs a flat area of about 12 × 8 ft, and that already includes the seats on three sides of the grill, so a patio, a side yard or the driveway often does the job. Before the party, check your association’s rules on open-flame cooking, guest parking and quiet hours, and tell us if your street has parking limits so we can plan where to unload.
